Customers, partners and third-party certification bodies can test Varisco self-priming centrifugal pumps and internal gear pumps using the same precision instrumentation and specialist know-how employed in the development of our products. The result is a highly technical service, based on accurate, repeatable and fully traceable measurements.
Two testing areas, a single standard of excellence
Water area – Varisco Self-Priming Centrifugal Pumps
The laboratory has three test stations for Varisco J Series and ST-R Series self priming pumps, equipped with direct current motors that guarantee extremely precise rotation speed control.
A unique vertical installation, standing over 9 metres high, enables priming and NPSH testing for pumps ranging from 1” to 12”, covering an extensive array of applications.
During the tests, all the main hydraulic and electrical parameters are measured:
- flow rate and head
- power consumption and efficiency
- NPSHr and priming times
- vibrations and noise
Oil area – Internal Gear Pumps
The section for Varisco positive displacement pumps V Series allows for the testing of units from 1¼” to 10”, handling fluid viscosities ranging from 10 to 1000 cSt, through three specialized systems:
- propylene glycol
- oil at 200 cSt
- oil at 1000 cSt
This set-up enables the precise simulation of operating conditions typical of the most demanding industrial applications.
Structure and instrumentation: uncompromising precision
The hydraulic infrastructure of the laboratory is based on two large storage tanks and three test lines of different diameters, capable of managing flow rates of up to 1800 m³/h. Suction conditions can be configured for both vacuum (suction lift) and pressure (flooded suction), thanks to a dedicated piping system.
The measuring instrumentation includes:
- high-precision electromagnetic flow meters
- electronic (digital) pressure transducers for both low and high head applications
- torque and speed sensors for the direct measurement of mechanical performance
- temperature sensors, atmospheric pressure and power analysers
All signals are streamed into a centralized monitoring system, utilizing instruments that are regularly calibrated and checked to ensure reliability of results.
Recognized certifications and tests
At the end of the tests, Varisco releases official certifications compliant with the standards required by the customer:
- Certificates of conformity EN 10204 – 3.1
- 3.2 test reports for customer-witnessed inspections
Specific certifications are also available for particularly stringent applications and regulations, such as Oil Free, LABSA And MOCA. Each test is fully documented, up to the final drafting of the test certificate with all measured results.
