Self-priming diaphragm pumps LB Series

The LB series self-priming diaphragm pumps are widely used wherever it is necessary to extract and evacuate foam, viscous, dense and sludgy liquids with abrasive debris and suspended solids. The high suction capacity and the ability to pump dry without damage make it particularly suitable for demanding applications.

Advantages

  1. Self-priming dry in seconds up to 6 m (4.5 m for LB65), ideal for emptying, frequent starts, speed of intervention.
  2. Damage-free dry running thanks to diaphragm technology with no parts requiring cooling and lubrication.
  3. Ability to handle difficult fluids: foams, fatty and sticky substances, viscous fluids, with fibres and suspended solids.
  4. High abrasion resistance: Its construction features allow the management of abrasive fluids with minimal wear and maintenance.
  5. Wide passage of suspended solids, with maximum dimensions close to the dimensions of the suction and delivery ports.
  6. Gentle handling that preserves the integrity of the pumped product.
  7. High chemical compatibility with a wide choice of materials: polypropylene, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminium - TPV elastomers, FKM, neoprene.
  8. Maximum operational safety due to the absence of oil lubrication and elimination of the risk of contamination.
  9. Quick and easy maintenance, with reduced plant downtime.

Advantages of TPV diaphragms

  1. Excellent tensile strength and elongation: superior to other thermoplastic elastomers and traditional elastomers.
  2. High mechanical strength: up to 3 times higher than conventional rubbers.
  3. Excellent abrasion resistance: ideal for applications in heavy wear conditions.
  4. High tear strength: for greater durability and integrity of the material.
  5. Wide temperature range of use: from -60°C to +135°C.
  6. Environmental resistance: in extreme conditions, for long operating life.
  7. Broad chemical compatibility, with resistance to: acidic and alkaline solutions, oils and greases, polar solvents, contaminated or polluted water and fuels.

LB SERIES

Working principle of diaphragm pumps

LB pumps are diaphragm pumps with a coupling rod driven by a gear box speed reducer. The flow generated by the movement of the diaphragm is controlled by check valves at the suction and delivery. As the diaphragm rises away from the bottom of the casing it produces a vacuum which draws the liquid into the casing through the suction valve. When the diaphragm is on the downstroke, the liquid is expelled through the delivery valve. LB pumps are reciprocating positive displacement pumps. The delivery line must therefore have an adequate diameter and be free to discharge the liquid being pumped to avoid pressure build up which can damage the diaphragm or the drive mechanism. The pump should be connected to pipework using sections of flexible hose to avoid transmitting the pulsations of the pump to the rest of the system.
